If you would like to make an impact for all those living with cystic fibrosis today, consider the giving options below — many of which have financial and personal benefits to you.

Complimentary Gift Planning Resources are Just a Click Away!

Recommend a grant now from your donor-advised fund

Some of our donors have established a donor-advised charitable fund (Fidelity Charitable ®, Vanguard Charitable ®, Schwab Charitable ® or other) and have a strong desire to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through an annual gift and a legacy gift.

You can direct that your donor-advised charitable fund be distributed, in full, to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation after your lifetime. Or, you can name specific charities and choose a dollar or percentage amount to be distributed over a certain time, or until the account balance becomes zero.

You can initiate a grant recommendation from your donor-advised fund, or DAF, using the link below. Simply start typing in your fund provider name and the system will prompt you through the process.

Memorial or Tribute Gift

A gift now or a future legacy gift to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation can become an enduring tribute to a family member or other loved one.

Consider naming your estate gift in memory of or in honor of someone. Your gift can be reflective of your shared joy in life together or in recognition of someone who made a difference.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities

You can use stocks and mutual funds that have appreciated in value to support our shared vision. You may receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock (up to a maximum of 30% of your adjusted gross income) and avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the value of the stock.

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

You can transfer funds from your IRA directly to the CF Foundation. This is a smart way to make an immediate impact for all those affected by cystic fibrosis. Here’s how it works:

  • You must be 70 ½ or older.
  • An individual may transfer up to a total of $105,000 per year and a married couple may give up to $210,000.
  • Your gift must be transferred directly from the IRA account to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
  • Your gift is a transfer of funds from your IRA to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation so it does not create taxable income for you and is not considered a charitable tax deduction.
  • If you are 73 and older, the transfer of funds counts towards your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA.

Whether or not you choose to make a QCD, you can still designate the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a beneficiary to receive IRA assets after your lifetime. A QCD is simply another option for donors who would like to see their philanthropy at work now.

To make an immediate gift from your IRA, simply use this sample letter as a guide to instruct your plan administrator to make a direct transfer from your traditional IRA or Roth IRA to:
